Preskov AD
Preskov AD is one of the oldest and biggest manufacturer of hot forged parts in Bulgaria, founded in 1900.
The company manufactures a wide range of products of weight from 0.300 kg to 25 kg which are designed for various branches such as energy industry, machine engineering, transport, agriculture, hydraulics, mining and manufacture of lifting, transport and construction machines. In 1900 a private company was incorporated under the business name  M.D. Karadzhov and Co., Machine factory and Foundry Napred and in 1931 was transformed in Valkar partnership. The main business of this company included the manufacture of different forged products, mainly agricultural and other implements. At that time the manufacturing facilities of Valkar included a German-made Omayko forging and Massey steam-air hammer 350 kg. The factory manufactured a wide range of agricultural implements: axes, spades, hoes, adzes and others. Valkar was nationalized in 1947. In the period 1950 – 1952 a new production building was constructed and new manufacturing facilities installed. The area of the production rooms was increased to  5,854 sq.m. The company was re-named to KPZ Sarp i Chuk.
The main reconstruction and rehabilitation of the company took place at the beginning of the 1970s. A large forging and pressing shop and a modern administrative building were constructed on a new site in the industrial part of Stara Zagora, and also some additional structures and infrastructure. There is a specialized tool shop for the manufacture of forging dies and other tooling constructed on the old site. With the installation  of the new machines the capacity of the company exceeded  20,000 tons of forgings per year. In the 1980s the annual capacity is over 25,000 tons. Approximately half of the products are supplied to Balkancar, the largest manufacturer of fork lift trucks.
At the beginning of the 90s Sarp i Chuk was re-structured into Preskov EOOD. In 1993 the plant faced bankruptcy. Strikes were organized and managing staff was replaced several times. The manufacture by hot die forging and forging of parts in carbon and alloy steel taking place in the plant is unique for Bulgaria.
On 20 November 1998 a privatization procedure was declared. On 11 May 2000 a contract was signed under which  75 % of the company shares were acquired by Holding Zagora. And at the next tender Holding Zagora purchased almost the whole state share and presently holds  98.10 % of the capital of Preskov AD.
More than 1,400,000 levs were invested for manufacturing facilities in the period  2000 – 2005 and the production capacities were increased  from 1600 tons per year at 1998 to 2600 tons in 2004.
In addition, the company has its own division for design and manufacture of tools for hot forging and die forging of metals.
The tool manufacturing process (design and construction of dies for presses and air-steam hammer) is backed by an advanced IDEAS  CAD-CAM system.
The company has implemented the EN ISO 9001:2000 quality control system and has certificate for design, development and manufacture of forgings and forging-pressing tooling.
The production facilities of the company are located in the industrial part of Stara Zagora on an area of 116,000 sq.m. The main production includes forgings by the hot die forging method of weight from 0.300 kg up to 25 kg. The capacity of the plant is 8,000 tons per year at a single shift.
